The novel Black Box (1999), drawn from the Stanford prison experiment, became Oliver Hirschbiegel's film Das Experiment and brought Giordano the Bavarian Film Award for Best Screenplay. Auntie Poldi is the recurring character of the comic mystery series, running from Auntie Poldi and the Sicilian Lions (2015) through the Vineyards of Etna (2016) and the Handsome Antonio (2020) to the Lost Madonna (2021).
