Michael Christie is a Canadian writer, born and raised in Thunder Bay, Ontario. Christie moved to Vancouver to skateboard professionally, studied psychology at Simon Fraser University, worked in social services and entered the creative writing program at the University of British Columbia in 2008. The debut story collection The Beggar's Garden (2011) won the 2011 City of Vancouver Book Award, was longlisted for the Scotiabank Giller Prize and was shortlisted for the Rogers Writers' Trust Fiction Prize. If I Fall, If I Die (2015) and Greenwood (2019) are also catalogued.
