Myriam J. A. Chancy, born in 1970, is a Haitian-Canadian-American writer and a fellow of the John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation. Since 2008 Chancy has held the Hartley Burr Alexander Chair of Humanities at Scripps College in the Claremont Consortium, and the work concentrates on Haitian culture, gender, class, sexuality and Caribbean women's studies. Prizes to the novels include the OCM Bocas Prize for Caribbean Literature and the Guyana Prize for Literature Caribbean Award.
