Patrick Ness FRSL is an American-British author, journalist, lecturer and screenwriter, born on 17 October 1971 in the United States and later settled in London. Ness received the Carnegie Medal in 2011 for Monsters of Men and in 2012 for A Monster Calls, becoming one of seven two-time winners. The Chaos Walking trilogy ran from 2008 to 2010. Ness wrote the screenplay for the 2016 film of A Monster Calls and created the Doctor Who spin-off Class.
