Richard Blanco, born in 1968, is an American poet, playwright, public speaker and civil engineer. Blanco read the poem One Today at Barack Obama's second inauguration, the fifth poet to read at a United States presidential inauguration and the first immigrant, first Latino and first openly gay person to do so. President Biden awarded Blanco the National Humanities Medal in 2022.
