Sigrid Undset (1882-1949) was a Danish-born Norwegian novelist and the winner of the 1928 Nobel Prize in Literature. Kristin Lavransdatter, her best known work, is a trilogy of medieval Norway told through one woman's life from birth to death; The Master of Hestviken and Olav Audunssøn follow the same period. Undset's first historical fiction appeared in 1907, and she fled Norway for the United States in 1940 in opposition to the German occupation, returning in 1945. Twenty-five titles are catalogued.
