Sylvia Engdahl, born on November 24, 1933, is an American writer whose output is chiefly science fiction. Engdahl's debut novel, Enchantress from the Stars, came out from Atheneum Books in 1970, was named a 1971 Newbery Honor Book and received the Phoenix Award twenty years later.
