Fearless Jones is an army veteran of the Second World War, and Paris Minton, who runs a small used bookstore, is the man who keeps calling on him. In the first book a woman named Elana Love walks into the shop with questions, and inside a day Paris has been beaten, shot at, robbed and burned out, which leaves bailing Fearless out of jail as his only move.
