Malory Towers is Enid Blyton's boarding school series for girls, opening with First Term at Malory Towers (1946) and running a book a year to Last Term at Malory Towers (1951). Darrell Rivers is the protagonist, and her surname came from Blyton's second husband, Kenneth Darrell Waters. Blyton modelled the school on Benenden School, which her daughter attended and which moved during the Second World War to the Hotel Bristol in Newquay, Cornwall.
